We saw a slight increase in entries to this year's Photography Annual, undoubtedly helped by our online competition system that gives entrants the option to upload digital entries directly from their computers. Thousands of images were received from ninety-two countries. The nominated photographers were selected by a who's who Judging Panel from the international photography community, including Christie's (New York), National Geographic (Washington) and Fox Broadcasting Company (Los Angeles). The Panel reviewed the images online over an eight week period and Amyn Nasser's "RIPE," an exceptional image entered in the NUDE category, received a high percentage of votes overall.

This presentation of a body of my work from a talk I gave in Southern California under my title series Eyes Wide Open. 

The theme was based on the magic of photography: 

"...the photographer's magic - the ability to stir the soul with light and shape and colour. To create grand visual moments out of small and simple things, and to infuse big and complicated subjects with unpretentious elegance. 

Through the photographer's eyes a kiss becomes a romance, a stretch of fabric is a costume of endless possibilities, a face is the book that describes a lifetime. When you see great photography you hear music... or want to... because the light dances. It's playful and full of energy...
