Selena in the Cowgirl hat - photographed in Vegas on a sunny bright day. Mixed lighting with the backlight coming through as she moves quickly, what a gorgeous smile and beautiful eyes. With the Metz 76 MZ 5 high power flash that has a nice even coverage across the full frame and recharges very fast, the balance in light is exceptional with the correct sensor for the Metz. It reads it very quickly by first doing a pre-flash.

Again here, with the fast change in expressions the Metz 76 MZ 5 is SUPERB in configuring the well balanced mix in lighting. The wide coverage means that the image is well lit edge to edge and allows me to focus my attention only on the subjects, their movement and expressions and where I'd like to crop.

Similar to the above images - this image as in the Cowgirl hat above with the mix in lighting. This session had a lot of very fast composition and movement. Nothing was posed and the fire rate was very high. The sequence of movement is what interests me rather than having to focus my attention on gear and gear and gear!

For most of my outdoors work I use a flash but have found that the recycle rate has to be quick. The Metz 76 MZ 5 with the external power packs cuts the recycle time down to almost immediate. Yes, sometimes the flash head fan will come on (actually often in my case as I am rapid firing) and with the Nikon SB 800 I also tend to use a Quantum Turbo Pack.

Gorgeous Lovers! Shot in very little time in Florida where I had them express their feelings for each other - yes! they were a couple! Soft external flash mixed into a shade light situation. I love the softness and sensuality of her lips. They are full and expectantly waiting for that passionate kiss!

The 2 beauty shots done in Southern Florida around Delray Beach, Palm Beach county. In particular the pool shot model with ipod and sunglasses was photographed at the pool at Crane's Beach House, Delray Beach, Florida. Great place to stay. Very high end hideaway resort, all tropical, great neighborhood and only steps away to the beach. The hotel is a great escape.

Mention my blog.

The other beauty shot done late afternoon, details mentioned in another posting before this.

The young boy photographed in Mill Valley, California. Great personality as he got right into the photo shoot and came up with all kinds of animated takes.

The beautiful hot Blond done in Vegas on an extremely tight schedule - with 2 days for over 20 different sets. There's a mix of lighting going on with everything carefully balanced - nothing posed here as that's not my style. She's moving quickly as I direct her into the frame to capture a series of different expressions at split second moments. Edits were tough but a lot of great great expressions. Love productions that are high energy.

City shot: Timeless, Intimate, Romantic. From my series of Vancouver Metropolis that is a Fine Art Architectural take on the city to show what has not been captured. This romantic take on the metropolis we live in today.

Published: Mar 09 - Beauty Relaxation at the Beach

Taken mid-late afternoon on a Florida beach, on the eastern part of Florida just north of Miami. Simple composition with attention to the pose and triangular composition, and the harmony of blues with a touch of pink lips. The gracefulness of her hand and delicacy of her fingers makes the shot spontaneous and timeless.

Eyes Wide Open

This presentation of a body of my work from a talk I gave in Southern California under my title series Eyes Wide Open.
The theme was based on the magic of photography:

"...the photographer's magic - the ability to stir the soul with light and shape and colour. To create grand visual moments out of small and simple things, and to infuse big and complicated subjects with unpretentious elegance.

Through the photographer's eyes a kiss becomes a romance, a stretch of fabric is a costume of endless possibilities, a face is the book that describes a lifetime. When you see great photography you hear music... or want to... because the light dances. It's playful and full of energy...

...photographs can stand alone... as frozen moments that decorate, define, entertain and inform. " Amyn Nasser ©

Editorial: Maxim Europe

Naples...sweet beach, sweet and wonderful to photograph "E" by the piers. She's got such a gorgeous and mischievous smile, I was captivated. Beautiful beaches and gorgeous sunsets. We spent the day shooting all kinds of beachwear. This image from the series. 1200 Raw files / 8 sets. Flash outside at sunset. In such situations with the sun going down quickly which is a terrific light, you want to work fast to get the moment. The front light is soft and feathered enough so it does not look staged. I'm feathering the Metz and firing my D2X at a rapid rate to get that smile. Of course after 16-18 shots I do hit the buffer but that gives for a breather. All Nikon cameras and lenses. Metz 76 MZ-5 flashes.

Editorial: Time Out

She rocks and was great fun to photograph. This 2 day production done in Las Vegas - all shot at high speed with mixed light. I'm directing the model as she is moving towards me...while I am feathuring the light, moving in towards the model and back out to get the crop so the sun is exactly where it is and her head tipped back. Some 2500 Raw images to edit from and about 22 sets in 2 days. Lots of takes and a tough edit. All Nikon gear. More in my portfolio.
